promised the moon
A collaboration with Exhibition Curator Ursula Frederick and a group of artists to mark the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Creating aesthetic responses to the unique 1969 event and the Honeysuckle Creek Tracking Station site near Canberra. HSC Tracking Station supported the Apollo programmes including broadcasting
the first television images of Neil Armstrong's foot steps on the moon.
Ursula and I used 'flat bedding' as a pseudo scientific technique
to scan the various dimensions of the Honeysuckle Creek site. Eventually assembling and printing the images and deliberately departing from conventional landscape photographic practice, but with an eye
firmly focussed on the aesthetics of 'touching the environment'
both present and past.
