The 3 *orchestrated images of the Pacific Ocean
in the dark allow me to consider a subject space less literal
in its disclosure: on the one hand, photographic and therefore 'real' but by its nature, on the other hand, a ruptured reality.
Foucault describes 'neither here nor there spaces' as heterotopic: having more layers of meaning or relationships with other places than immediately meets the eye.
With each image of the triptych my intension is to position viewers in the dynamic cycle of encounter and re-encounter that draws on their own experiences and emotions.
* Illumination provided by various hand held light sources 'painting' the subject over long exposures.
